Operation North Pole is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2009 with a mission to give children with terminal illnesses a magical Christmas experience full of hope and courage. Every year, the non-profit decorates a Metra locomotive and five coaches with a specially-themed holiday wrapper, making it one of the most decorative passenger trains in the country. To help raise funds for the organization, model railroad company KATO USA has announced a special N-Scale train set that perfectly replicates the organization’s 2016 train design, which is featured in the following video. To support Operation North Pole, consider purchasing one of these sets through their website, using promo code “delayinblock” for free shipping and specialty pricing. All profits will go to cover the cost of wrapping the real train set for the 2017 season. This year’s train will operate out of Des Plaines, Illinois on December 9th, heading east for Pingree Road on the Union Pacific. The train will return to Des Plaines later in the morning, where the children will be shuttled by police and firefighters to the Rosemont Convention Center for the main event.
